In the words of Elmer Fudd, "It's rabbit season."

November 22, 2017

Following the news of KRACK and completing the one-two-punch, a new strand of ransomware appeared in Russia and Ukraine, eventually spreading. The new strand of ransomware, named Bad Rabbit, critically hit Russia. It affected Russian websites, an airport in Ukraine and several other companies. Bad Rabbit spread under a bogus email disguised as an Adobe Flash update.

Unfortunately, some companies were infected and their work has been completely paralyzed as their servers and workstations are encrypted. Bad Rabbit is similar to its two predecessors that hit the world not too long ago - WannaCry and Petya. CSO Online reports that ransomware cost companies nearly 5 billion in 2017 and is predicted to cost up to 11.5 billion by 2019 (link).
